Tymris is an investor relations officer at a Japanese multinational electronics and electrical engineering conglomerate company. His current assigned areas are information technology and consulting services. In addition, his specialized fields are investor relations, marketing communications, enterprise risk management and business continuity.

He was born in Fukuoka-city, Fukuoka prefecture in Japan, 19XX, and grew up in Amagi-city and Kurume-city. Tymris is a 2004 graduate of the Social Science Major, School of Education at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. Tymris’s master’s degree in sociology and media studies (Master of Arts and Sciences (Information Studies)) is from the University of Tokyo, where he wrote his dissertation on the discursive formation process of Japanese information society in the 20th century. While still a student, Tymris served as a technical assistant of Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies at the University of Tokyo from 2004 to 2006, where he engaged in digital archive research and development of propaganda posters in an era of World War I.

He was a corporate communications representative at a Japanese electronics conglomerate, from 2006 to 2007, where he had experience in corporate communications including media relations and investor relations. After his career at a risk consulting company, he came back to the electronics company in 2011.

His perspective on society is based on social systems theory, which German sociologist Niklas Luhmann advocated. From the perspective, Tymris think and analyze society and social aspect of media. At the same time, he considers his business activity as a kind of practical studies of sociology.

His writings include “The Genealogy of Information Society Studies: Discourse Analysis of ‘Social Informatization’ in 1960s-1990s Japan” (master’s thesis), “Spatial Theory in the Age of Globalization and Informatization” (bachelor’s thesis), “The City and the Mediation of Sounds” in Ethnography on the Streets, and Risk Management Handbook.

Tymris’s professional service includes serving as a member for the Japan Society for Corporate Communication Studies (JSCCS) and Business Continuity Advancement Organization (BCAO).
